In 2027, the YONEX German Open will introduce a significant change: For the first time, the International Badminton Championships of Germany will be classified as a “BWF World Tour Super 500” event on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) tournament calendar.
As a result, players at the YONEX German Open will now be able to earn even more points toward the world rankings – and the prize money has increased significantly. In 2027, a total of $560,000 will be up for grabs!
Not least because the 2027 YONEX German Open will be the first tournament on the European tour, the absolute world elite of badminton is expected in Mülheim an der Ruhr. This is because the majority of nations will begin their European tournament series with the German International Badminton Championships.
