“I always look forward to the YONEX German Open. It’s a fantastic sporting event,” said Markus Püll, Mayor of Mülheim an der Ruhr, who conveyed greetings from the host city on the day of the semi-finals.
In an interview with presenter Hartwig Thöne, Markus Püll expressed his gratitude to 1. BV Mülheim for once again organizing an outstanding tournament. The club was able to recruit around 180 volunteers. “There is a lot of commitment and idealism behind this,” said the mayor.
Markus Püll also thanked the German Badminton Association (DBV) for locating its office and a federal training center in Mülheim an der Ruhr, as well as the Luisenschule high school, which strongly supports top-level sport as a cooperation partner. At the same time, Markus Püll was delighted that the Luisenschule was also providing musical accompaniment for the event.
